Must Read – First Ten Days of Dhul Hijjah 2025

How long to read Takbeer Tashreeq?

From the Fajr of the ninth day of Dhul Hijjah 2022 to the afternoon of the thirteenth day of Dhul Hijjah 2022, it is obligatory to recite the Takbeer aloud once immediately after each obligatory prayer. However, women should say this takbeer softly. However, according to the calculations, it is a total of 32 prayers after which it is obligatory to say takbeer and the five days in which this takbeer is called are called “days of tashreeq”. (Darre mukhtar)

These takbeers are not obligatory on every person. There are some conditions for them to be obligatory which we will try to explain in detail.

Conditions for Takbir e Tashreeq to be obligatory

The following are the three conditions for Takbir e Tashreeq to be obligatory. If these three conditions are present in a person, then Takbir is obligatory on him during the days of Tashreeq.  (Hidayah – Summary of Fatwas’)

* Staying, Takbir is not obligatory on the traveler.

* Being a city, Takbir is not obligatory on the people of village Goth.

* It is not obligatory for those who offer prayers alone and for women who offer prayers in congregation to say Takbeer.

Necessary interpretation of terms

The first condition means that those who are residing in a place such as in their original homeland or the traveler has made the intention to stay in a place where the intention of staying is valid for at least fifteen days and the other two conditions are also present. Takbeer is obligatory on him in the days of Tashreeq.

Takbir Tashreeq is not obligatory on the traveler whether he prays separately or prays in congregation under the guidance of an Imam like himself and even if the traveler or the group of travelers are in a city and perform their congregation, Takbeer is not obligatory on them anyway, However if these travelers or travelers perform the congregational prayers in the city or town under the guidance of a resident imam, then they too will be obliged to submit to the imam and take takbeer.

The second condition means that since it is a condition for Friday and Eid to be a town or a town, it is not permissible for a small village to have a Goth on Friday and Eid. Pray in congregation. However, if these people come to a city or town and pray in congregation under the guidance of a resident imam, then they will be obliged to perform takbeer by obeying the imam.

The third condition means that in addition to the above two conditions, in order for takbeer to be obligatory, it is also necessary that the obligatory prayers which are obligatory to say takbeer tashreeq during the days of tashreeq must be performed in congregation and that congregation, Even if it is a mustahabb group, if it is not a makrooh group, for example, if that duty has been performed in a group under the guidance of a male imam, then takbeer tashreeq will be obligatory on all the followers of that group, including the imam.

However, if a person, despite the first two conditions being met, performs the obligatory prayers of the days of Tashreeq alone or some without the congregation, then Takbir is not obligatory on him after the prayers performed alone.

In the same way, if single women together perform the obligatory prayers in congregation under the guidance of a woman as their Imam, then Takbir will not be obligatory on them either, because the congregation of women is not recommended, but it is makrooh tahrimi. Similarly, if women perform the prayers separately, then Takbir is not obligatory on them.

However, in a city or town, women should perform the obligatory prayers in congregation following a male imam, and if the imam intends to follow them, then the prayers that they will perform under the guidance of the imam are also subject to the imam after these prayers.  Takbir will become obligatory.  But it is not permissible for women to go to the mosques and pray in the congregation of men, it is makrooh tahrimi. (Bahrushami)

An important explanation

The conditions mentioned above for making Takbir obligatory in the days of Tashreeq are according to Imam Azam Abu Hanifa (may Allah have mercy on him) And in both respects, Da’wah has declared the opinion of Imam Sahib to be more powerful. (Amdaad-al-Ahkaam)

But according to Hazraat Sahib (may Allah have mercy on him), Takbir is not necessary for any of the above conditions to be obligatory.  It is obligatory on all and some jurists have given fatwas on the sayings of the Companions and it is better and more prudent to follow their sayings.  Therefore, all the above mentioned persons should say Takbir after every obligatory prayer in the days of Tashreeq. (Amdaad-al-Ahkaam)

Ruling on forgetting Takbir Tashreeq

Takbeer should be said immediately after every obligatory prayer. Takbeer should not be called Tashreeq and it does not have Qaza. Yes, by repenting, the sin of leaving Takbir will be forgiven, so repent and take care of the future. However, if a person’s ablution is broken immediately after the prayers, it is better for him to say takbeer immediately in that condition and not to go for ablution and perform ablution and say it is still permissible.  (Ilm-ul-Fiqh and Fatwa of Dar-ul-Uloom Maddalal).

If Imam forget to say Takbir

If the Imam forgets to say Takbir after any prayers, then the followers should say Takbir immediately and do not wait for the Imam to say it.  (Darre Mukhtar)

How many times do you say Takbir Tashreeq?

Takbir is a command to be recited only once after each obligatory prayer and according to the correct view it is against Sunnah to say it more than once. (Shami Fatwa Darul Uloom Muddalal).

Ruling on takbeer tashreeq after Eid prayers

There is a difference of opinion as to whether or not to say Takbir after the Eid prayers of Baqar.  (Darmakhtar and Beheshti Gohar).
