It is better for one of you to carry a bundle of wood on his back and sell it, so that Allah may meet his need, than to beg from the people. They want to give him something or not.
It is narrated on the authority of Zubair bin Al-Awwam that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: One of you should carry a bundle of wood on his back and sell it, so that Allah may meet his need. They want to give him something or not.
(Reported by Al-Bukhari)
Dear listeners, Imam Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) has narrated this hadith in his Sahih. This hadith has a key and fundamental status in the economic system of the people of Islam. The emphasis in the hadith is that when a person has a physical status If he is fit and energetic, able to work, able to walk, and has a clear mind, he should not be a burden to other members of society to meet his needs, but should try as much as possible to Use your mental energies and physical strength to provide for yourself and your dependents.
Asking questions, begging, keeping an eye on the pockets and earnings of others, cultivating vices such as lust, greed and greediness are very undesirable and disgusting acts in the eyes of Islam. Is trampled.
The sustenance earned by one’s own hands and one’s own hard work is a source of peace of mind as well as the pleasure and goodwill of Allah.
Hazrat Muqdad bin Mu’adikrab (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: No one can eat better food than what he has earned with his own hands. The scholars of Muhaddithin (may Allah have mercy on him) have written in the interpretation of this hadith that Hazrat Adam (peace be upon him) used to cultivate.
Noah built the ark and worked as a carpenter. Hazrat Idris (as) used to sew clothes and Hazrat Musa (as) used to graze goats. And Imam al-Anbiya himself, Sayyid al-Mursalin (as) used to perform daily chores with his blessed hands. He used to help them in the work of the purifiers.
He used to bring firewood from the forest with his companions. What could be an example of more hard work and physical toil than that even selected personalities like the Prophets (peace be upon them) have no shame in undertaking any work of hard work and toil. Why can’t we provide for ourselves with our own hands? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) always discouraged begging and begging, and through his Companions taught every member of the ummah that Allaah Relying on the attributes of one’s caste, one should arrange one’s livelihood according to one’s status, ability and potential.
We should never wait for people’s donations, charities and donations.Because not everyone is in the mood to give or give something all the time. In such cases, nothing is achieved except shame and our religion wants to save us from shame. Hazrat Anas (RA) says that an Ansari is the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) He came to the service of the Holy Prophet (sws) and asked for something.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: There is nothing in your house. And there is a cup in which we drink water. He said: Bring them both to me. When he came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) with these two things, he came to the gathering of the Companions. He bid them and said, “Is there anyone who will buy them both?”one of that is agreed
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) then said two or three times: Is there anyone who pays more than one dirham for both of them?
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) handed over the blanket and the cup to him and gave it to the beggar who asked for two dirhams. He said: Buy some food and drink for one dirham and give it to the house and bring an ax from the other dirham.
When he came with an ax, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) put his hand in it with his blessed hand and handed it to him and said: Go and sell two pieces of wood, I will not see you here for fifteen days. When he returned after fifteen days, he had ten dirhams from which he had bought food and clothing. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: It is better for you to earn a living than to work hard. On the Day of Resurrection, your face will be marked by begging in the presence of Allah like this.
This incident narrated in the hadith is very instructive and instructive. In Islamic society, the help of the poor and the needy has been appreciated.
They are deprived of basic necessities in spite of their hard work. Helping them is rewarding. But those who habitually and unnecessarily reach out and ask questions in the bazaars, squares and streets. Yes, they should understand that this attitude is both flawed and a disgrace to human dignity.
There is another hadith in Tabarani with reference to Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was asked. Which work is the best? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Work with your hands. Doing and trading according to the rules and regulations. From this it was learned that to equip oneself with modern education according to the requirements of the situation.
