Virtue of the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah 2025

It is narrated on the authority of Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “There is not a day in which the deeds of Saleh Allah are more beloved and desirable than the deeds of those (Dhul Hijjah 2025) ten days.

“The Companions asked: O Messenger of Allah!  Isn’t jihad equal to these (actions of days)?

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: (Yes) Jihad is not equal to these (deeds done in those days).  (Neither life nor property, both should be sacrificed, ie become a martyr.) (Bukhari Sharif).

In this holy hadith, the great virtue and importance of the first ten days of the month of Dhi Al-Hijjah has been mentioned that the good deeds done in these ten days are so beloved and desirable in the sight of Allah that no deed of the remaining days of the year is so beloved.  Even jihad in the way of Allah Almighty which is the highest position in Islam is not equal to the deeds of these days.

However, for a person who has sacrificed both his life and property in the way of Allah, his sacrifice and martyrdom may be equal to the deeds of these days in the sight of Allah.  Apart from unnecessary worldly affairs, everyone should be engaged in the remembrance of Allah Almighty. Zikr-o-Fikr, Tasbeeh-o-Talawat and other daily activities should definitely add something to the good deeds.

Abundance of Zikrullah in the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah

It is narrated on the authority of Hazrat Ibn-e-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that Hazrat Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: In the sight of Allah, there is no day more glorious than the tenth of Dhul Hijjah, nor is there any deed more beloved than the deeds of these days. Therefore, in these days you should do Tasbeeh and Tahlil and Takbeer and Tahmeed frequently. (Tabarani)

Tasbeeh and Tahlil and Takbir and Tahmid are special words of religious language. Tasbeeh means to say Subhan Allah, Tahlil means to say La ilaha illa Allah, Takbir means to say Allah o Akbar and Tahmeed means to say Alhamdulillah. These are very blessed words, their many virtues have been mentioned in the hadiths.

In these blessed days, one should read these words very carefully and make special arrangements for Astaghfaar and Durood Sharif.

The virtue of fasting during the day and worshiping at night on special days

It is narrated on the authority of Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “There is no day in which worship is more pleasing to Allah Almighty than the tenth of Dhul Hijjah (Because) in the tenth of Dhul Hijjah, one day of each day is equal to one year of fasting, and its worship every night is equal to the worship of Laylat al-Qadr”.

From the aforesaid instruction of the Holy Prophet (saw) the great virtue of the first ten days of Eid-ul-Baqar has become clear that if a person fasts one of these days, he will get the reward of one year’s fast.  If he fasts for two days, he will get reward equal to two years of fasting.

This is the virtue of the day and the virtue of the night should be understood that first of all there is no certainty to get Shab-e-Qadr in Ramadan, then if it is found then it is the virtue of one night but here every person waking up every night of this decade, One can get the reward of worshiping Shab-e-Qadr and the reward of Shab-e-Qadr is said to be better than one thousand months in which there are about thirty thousand nights.

Now by worshiping in the nights of these ten days, every person can get this great reward. Let those who earn in the Hereafter come and show their essence.

The fast of the Ninth date of Dhul Hijjah

It is narrated on the authority of Hazrat Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that Beloved Prophet of Allah Rahmat-e-Aalam Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: ”Regarding the ninth date of Baqar Eid, I sincerely hope that Allah will atone for the sins of one year before and one year after”. (Muslim Sharif).

The day which falls on the ninth day of Dhul Hijjah is called the day of ‘Arafah. This day also has its own special significance and virtue. Fasting on this day forgives the sins of the previous and next one year, so fasting of this day is obligatory for the forgiveness of sins.

Ruling on hair and nails in the tenth of Dhul Hijjah 2025

It is narrated on the authority of Ummul-Momineen Hazrat Umm Salma (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: ”When the month of Dhul Hijjah 2025 begins and you intend to sacrifice any of you, do not cut your hair and nails”. (Muslim Sharif).

Keeping in view this tradition and other similar traditions, the scholars have said that it is mustahab for the sacrificer not to cut his nails or shave his head or to shave his head till the time of Dhul Hijjah 2025 when the moon appears. He should not clean the hair under the armpits or under the navel, nor should he cut the hair on any part of the body. After sacrificing, cut the nails and cut the hair.

Remember, it is mustahabb to do so and it is mustahabb to do it even at home, but if for some reason a person makes a letter before the sacrifice, for example, one or two days before Eid-ul-Adha, or cleanses the hair of certain parts of the body, it is still a sin.  No, and doing so does not interfere with the validity of the sacrifice, the sacrifice is valid.
